You will find us meeting in a modern, purpose-built headquarters. We have Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers, and we are here to provide Scouting for, among others, the boys of William Parker.
During the year and at Summer Camp especially you live, work and play as a Patrol. That means you have a tent (Icelandic or Bell) for your Patrol, you cook your own meals on wood fires, and serve them up to the Leaders who come round to eat with you, and you compete with the other Patrols to see which is the best.
You do activities like climbing and abseiling, water sports, go karts, zip wire, and so on. You can see lots more about camping on other pages.
During the year the Scouts meet regularly on Friday evenings. You learn skills like first aid, map and compass, ropework, and cooking, and you do a series of Challenges - things like fitness, community, global, etc.
This year we went ice-skating, dry-slope skiing, and gliding. We camped for 10 days at Frome in Somerset. We had a night hike and sleepovers. We helped with the Hastings Half-marathon and 1066 Fundraisers Community Fun weekend. We took part in the Scout Swimming Gala (which we won), and the County Overland Hike. One of our Scouts went to the Jamboree in Sweden.
The Overland Hike takes place in March. It's a 25-mile competiton hike on the South Downs for teams of 4 Scouts, who carry all their gear and camp out overnight on the way.
We had an evening cooking Italian food, a barbecue on the beach and fire and cooking at the School Farm. In May we ran an Open Night for parents and old Scouts. We had simulated cave rescue, first aid, pancakes, lots of games of all kinds, and fun with codes and ciphers. We had a Hallowe'en party with games and dressing up and food, of course.
Since then, we had our visit to the Hastings Gang Show, our Christmas Party, a chip survey, Chef Plus badge, and lots more.
We had a 3-day survival skills training camp. We've been to Bayford Meadows for karting, and Gillingham for ice skating.
